1 In 5 Don't Know What Kind Of Health Plan They

When it comes to health benefits, consumers aren’t singing their praises—or even fully aware of what they’ve got going on. Twenty percent of consumers don’t know what kind of health insurance plan they have, according to a new survey from Copatient, a medical bill reviewing company, and more than a quarter don’t know when their open-enrollment period begins. Overall, almost half of consumers aren’t happy with their health benefits, and more than 55% said they spent more than $1,000 in out-of-pocket healthcare expenses last year. Fifteen percent spent more than $5,000.
“The results are consistent with what we have been seeing in the marketplace: Consumers are spending more than ever on healthcare, yet they don’t currently have the resources to self-educate and navigate the system effectively,” says Copatient CEO Tom Torre. “The severity of the situation, however, was noteworthy in some cases.”Read more at: http://www.forbes.com/
