Dayal asks them about their family background to which they get to know that the prospective groom is the younger brother while the older brother is still unmarried. Everyone is puzzled upon hearing this. Seema tries to enquire, but the Mother-in-law brushes it again. She then goes on to say that her family has a lot of ruthba in Benaras. She starts touching Rachna’s jewellery and goes on the say that the daughter-in-laws of their family are clad with gold and expensive sarees. She goes on and on and Gunjan interrupts in between asking for the boy’s picture. A moment of grim silence takes over the room and the Mother in law and father-in-law exchange strange glances at each other but manage to pass on the picture to everyone. The picture of the groom is not shown to us. The prospective mother-in-law asks for her hobbies to which Shail tries to reply that she’s very interested in her studies and Gunjan asks her to stress on that point. But to their dismay, she states that there’s no use of all this after entering into the sacrament of marriage and she doesn't show any interest in Rachna’s education. The annoying bua shows her the pillow covers which were made by Rachna’s embroidery. Mayank’s dad adds that she has great culinary skills too. The in-laws are impressed and seem to be in a hurry for finalising the alliance. But they tell that Rachna is skinny and she needs to put on weight in the next two years. Rachna seeks her in laws blessings and later on Dayal’s. She looks at Dayal and thinks to herself sadly that her father must have forgiven her now. Mayank and Gunjan are upset with the proceedings and walk off in opposite directions without anybody noticing.
The guests leave and scene shifts to Rachna’s bedroom where Pihu reprimands Gunjan for dressing up Rachna that way. They have a small heated argument where Pihu brings up Sneha and her dad’s topic which angers Gunjan. Shail calms Pihu down but partially agrees with her and tells Gunjan that she shouldn't have dressed up Rachna , that way. Shail tries to come in between their argument but fails to do so. Gunjan walks out of the room. Gunjan goes to the terrace, Rachna joins her and tries to calm her down. But Gunjan is still annoyed with Pihu for raking up those old issues again. Mayank comes with Dholu and assess the situation. Mayank signals Dholu to do his job. Dholu tries talking to Gunjan but she doesn't seem to be in any mood to listen. Mayank decides to take the plunge by pulling their legs and saying that their noses look different now. Both red and furious with anger. Gunjan understands it later and gets slightly irritated. Mayank signals Dholu to start tickling her. She initially resists but gives in and starts laughing along with Rachna. The BG music begins to play while the trio seem to be having a gala time running and tickling each other. Mayank stands there and watches Gunjan admiringly.
After a debate, Shail decided to visit the mother-in-law to discuss about Rachna’s education. Mayank goes along with her and they both go to the mother-in-law’s house.
Scene shifts to sasural Rachna ka where the mother-in-law is giving instructions to a servant and preparations are going on full swing as the alliance has been fixed. Shail and Mayank are at their doorstep and Shail looks around at the palatial bungalow.
Mother-in-law welcomes them both and asks them for the reason of their coming. Shail politely replies saying that they have come to discuss an important pending issue. Mother-in-law looks surprised and encourages them to speak whatever is there. Shail tells her about her wish to see Rachna complete her graduation. Mother-in-law has a surprised look on her face and doesn't look keen on talking about it. But Shail goes on and talks about the importance of education and says that a well educated woman will always compliment the husband and guide him in every matter. She explains more about the importance of higher education.
The scene shifts to Rachna’s bedroom where an excited Chhaya sits next to Gunjan and they check their courses online for admission. Chhaya is amazed with Gunjan and asks her to be her friend to which in turn she’ll take her on a tour of Benaras. Gunjan smiles and chides her for making conditions on friendship. She calls Rachna to come over and select her courses but Rachna has a sad look on her face and says that what’s the use when I can't pursue my higher studies. Shail along with Mayank enter the room and announce that her in-laws have agreed to let her study. An elated Rachna is shocked and the atmosphere suddenly changed into a brighter one with Chhaya and Gunjan excited that Rachna can join them as well. This happy talk goes on and Shail leaves the room to prepare some food for them. Mayank stays there and continues to cast loving glances at Gunjan. He is determined to befriend her and so when Chhaya takes Rachna in a corner, he extends a hand across towards her. But Gunjan looks gloomy when Chhaya talks about celebrating this news. She gets reminded of her mom, Sneha and therefore doesn't see Mayank’s hand. Mayank, a tad bit disappointed takes it back and watches Gunjan while she runs to the terrace.
Gunjan’s at the terrace calling out to the skies when Rachna comes in and comforts her. Meanwhile she gets a call from her dad and she rejects it. Rachna asks her the reason to which she replies saying that she doesn't really care about him because he left her abandoned at a time when he needed her the most. Mayank overhears this but we still don't know if he entirely knows about Gunjan’s mom passing away.
In the hall Mayank tries to help the girls by searching for different universities for them. Rachna decides to take up History as her major while Gunjan is still undecided but says that she’ll first complete her B.Com and then MBA. The other uncles encourage them and are genuinely happy for both the girls. Mayank decides to treat them and tells Sangeeta that they’ll go out and eat today since its a joyous occasion. Gunjan looks at Mayank and they share a very brief eyelock. Sangeeta is overjoyed and goes to the kitchen to announce that there will be no work at the rasoi today since Mayank is giving a treat. A frown is replaced on Seema’s face when she learns that her son, Mayank will have to shed out cash from his own pocket. Bua tells her to be soft as there’s enough noise coming from outside already. Bua continues to say that since Gunjan is very intelligent and her father has a job in Australia, it’d be better if she continued her education there and save their expenses. But she doubts if it will happen since her father left her here ever since Sneha passed away. Shail overhears this and has a disappointed and worried look on her face.
Bua keeps talking about how Gunjan and her dad. Shail overhears this and enter the kitchen and leaves briefly. She goes to Dayal’s room to have a word with him regarding the same. She goes on to talk about how education is equally important for a girl as well. Dayal gives the same old thoughtful expression but says nothing. Shail keeps quiet after a while and that's when Sangeeta interrupts them with the news that the the mother-in-law has come to visit them. Shocked
Scene shifts to the hall where everyone gets collected to witness the happenings. Shail comes and politely asks her the reason of her sudden arrival. Sangeeta tells Rachna to put a dupatta on her head. Mother in law blabbers and she gave a nod to Rachna’s education but she has few conditions. Read more
